Welcome, Alumni!

The LLYC Alumni Program exists to help former campers and staff members continue the important relationships and life changes that came about during your summers in the Frio Canyon. We share the mission and vision of The H. E. Butt Family Foundation, which exists to serve God by providing opportunities for people to encounter God for the transformation of daily life, work, and our world.

Goofy Skit with Allison

Janice Koshman Quast

How many summers did you spend in the Canyon? 5 years – 1 at Singing Hills and 4 at Echo Valley Do you have a favorite camp memory? Oh gosh, where do I begin?  If I had to narrow it down, I would have four: Being in a skit at Echo, where we painted ourselves entirely blue. We were aliens who came down to earth and learned about Jesus. Barrel racing at the rodeo as […]

Kerry & Camper

Kerry Richardson Henry

I only spent one summer in the Canyon, the summer of 1991.  I worked at Singing Hills as the water front director and a counselor.  I learned about LLYC from Frog Sullivan who had come to our Young Life Summer College the previous year.  I applied and y’all accepted this girl from Pennsylvania.  It was quite the adventure. I now work for the US Army as a civilian program management engineer.  I have been here […]

Susan & Merric: A Camp Friendship

How did you end up at LLYC? We had a neighbor – Sandy Youman – who was into everything and knows everyone.  Her daughter, Becky, who was my age, went to LLYC, so Sandy suggested that I go, too. I remember Sandy driving me and Becky to camp for 4th session – trunk in the back of their wood-paneled station wagon.  My parents didn’t go, there were no drop-off tears, just unloading the trunk and […]

Alums as parents of campers

1st Session is in full swing. Yesterday, anxious parents and campers descended in the Canyon to kick of Summer 2017 at Laity Lodge Youth Camp. In that mix were several men and women who once had their own summer experiences 13 miles outside of Leakey, TX. With their camper and staffer summers long behind them, they now bring their own children to LLYC for the best two weeks of their lives. Kelby Greathouse is one […]

Conner Collins: Faith in Hardship

How long did you attend camp? I was a camper for 4-5 years, then on Crew, a Counselor the summer after that, then finally Assistant Guys Director. All of this was at Echo Valley. How has LLYC impacted your faith? Camp helped build the foundation for the faith that I have today. It taught me what it looks like to make my faith my own and it motivated me to find ways to make life […]

Spring 2017 LLFC Alumni Weekend

Spring 2017’s Alumni LLFC was a weekend for the books. Our beloved Sloan Bonfield Baker led music, setting a sweet tone for the entire weekend. Siblings abounded as Travis and Toby Baker AND Amy Williams and Lisa Anderson filled the Headwaters cabins.   The Kelly-Allison-Dee trifecta was in full force, as well as the following camp unions that have now bloomed into families: Sanches/Emmett Edgerton/Brosnan Creecy/Chilton Geib/Bluntzer We loved having Greg Rich back in the […]
